The Rat Fan Club
The Rat Assistance & Teaching Society held a rat
adoption day at the Petco in Chico, CA
Jan. 23, 2005 from noon to 4 pm
to help adopt out some of the rats from the story below. We still have two boys, a fawn and a
fawn hooded, who need a home.
They are about 12 weeks old.
For more information email Debbie at ratlady@ratfanclub.org or call
530-899-0605.
On December 15, 2004, 178 rats
(yes,178!) were dropped off at San Francisco Animal Care and Control. They
were shoved into 3 small dog crates and after hours of being sorted into
cages seem to be doing much better. They all seem to be in good health and
a vet has checked them out. All
the rats have been pretty well socialized. See below for pictures.
Rattie Ratz Rescue Rattery has
taken 64 of the rats. As of
Dec. 18 there are still 59 available rats at SFAC&C, 27 females and 32
males. Most of the females are quite young, but they are in greater need of
homes for the boys, who are under a year, and many 4-8 months old. SFAC&C will neuter some of the
boys but not until after the 1st of the year due to the vet’s
schedule. If they are adopted they may be brought back for neuters at a
later time.
